Solarclaw waited impatiently for Petal and Libido. The ginger tom impatiently flicked his tail. Thats another thing about her that I don't like! Lateness! Solarclaw snorted and paced around wondering about how well Petal would do. She probably stinks at everything! I bet tomorow she will leave the clan because it is to hard! "Petal is just as bad as a kittypet!" Solarclaw silently told himself. He sat up and sniffed the air around him deeply. The ginger tom was not surprised when he did not pick up Petal's scent. Maybe Petal has left the clan? He asked himself. Thats will be one less mouth to feed. Solarclaw chuckled. "She must have ran away by now." He stood up and began walking away until he caught a scent. the tom turned around to see who it was.

"Really sorry I'm late - Darkheart asked wanted to ask me something," Petal panted. He had stopped her as she was on her way out (she was already running late, but she didn't need to mention that) and wanted to talk to her. At first she'd thought that she was going to get kicked out, but instead started teasing her like old friends. She had been more than a little shocked, but it was clear that he'd meant it all in good nature. Then he sent her racing on her way - "If your late to training your mentors will eat you alive." So she had sprinted off and was here, quite out of breath.
ooc; should I PM middems or did you beat me to it?

"Fine, but next time you won't be forgiven so easily. Now All we need is your other mentor Libido and then we could start." Solarclaw growled. The ginger tom waited again while impatiently flicking his tail for Libido.
OOC: I forgot to but I'll do it now.

The brown tom sprinted through the marsh, light on his feet as a feline could be, until he came upon an orange shape looming in a nearby clearing – well, as clear as a clearing could get in the swamplands. He skidded to a clean halt, not so much as slipping on the squishy ground. My apologies if I was late, got here as fast as my paws could carry me. Libido apologized, his olive eyes glancing down to his paws, looking them over with a quiet snort of disapproval. His feet were coated in muck and he frowned most distastefully, dirty paws really weren’t his thing. The young warrior sighed; he was going to deal with it though, until he was dismissed from mentoring the she-apprentice that was even younger than himself. Libido had no clue why she had to be trained by two cats, maybe it was because she had been a softy or something like that and Darkheart wanted two of his tough warriors to train her. Well, I certainly wouldn’t be calling myself ‘tough’… He thought silently.
OOC; Sorry if I’m late to respond on this, school is a real pain. >_<

"Ok. Now Lets get started. Petal, show us what you can do so far." Solarclaw strictly ordered the new apprentince with a hint of a snarl in his voice. I wouldn't be surprised if she doesn't know anyhting. "If you can do anything." the ginger tom added quickly. Solarclaw glared at Petal angriliy.

"I can hunt, though I'm more used to the thin forests and open field of loner lands. I have a basic knowledge of fighting skills, but nothing complex. I am not great at tracking but I do know how. And I know almost nothing about the territory." She didn't know exactly what Solarclaw had meant by "show" so she simply told her mentors of what she could and couldn't do. They could ask her to demonstrate anything in particular if they wished; she was ready. Her eyes glanced at her mentors. At least she hadn't been the latest of the group. From their actions to date, she had a pretty good idea of their personalities: Solarclaw was a cold, angry cat who disliked kittypets and Libido was sweeter but somewhat of a mystery to the young apprentice. One thing's for sure, she thought. I'll find out more about them in moons to come.

Solarclaw looked at Petal blankly. "What I meant was demonstrate how you hunt and the fighting moves that you already know." he snarled angrily. Stupid cat! Can't even understand what we mean. "Now, I am giving you one more chance to try to stay on my good side. If you fail to do this you will face me in battle." Solarclaw said evily while letting his claws slide out.

Libido’s brown tail flicked and managed to smile at his apprentice, she knew quite a bit for a young she-cat. Not to mention she didn’t even look like she had been trained anything, but appearances were always very deceiving. The warrior’s jade optics glanced towards the fellow ginger clanmate beside him as he scolded the youngest of the group, wondering if Solarclaw’s sharp tongue was going to give anytime soon. He cleared his throat softly and moved his gaze back to the she-apprentice. That’s a good lot of training all ready covered, Petal. I congratulate you on such an accomplishment, for one as young as yourself. Libido meowed, ignoring the other’s blunt words, but, not wanting to be on the bad side of Solarclaw he added, but, as Solarclaw said, why not demonstrate some of your training for us?

Great. It seems I'm already learning about my mentors. She sighed inwardly, hoping that her frustration wouldn't be noticed by the toms. It seemed that the moons to come would be... difficult. Despite what Solarclaw said, Petal doubted that a loner kit such as herself would ever truly be on the cat's good side. Libido, however, seemed a bit less violent and a bit more understanding. Petal wasn't sure yet which cat was more like a true RogueClanner, but as far as she could tell Darkheart was some kind of taunting but friendly mix of the two. This will be hard, but I will succeed. The Clan will accept me, Petal promised herself.
"Of course." She remembered something her mother had stressed - the power of surprise. What better a way to impress her mentors? She moved low to the ground, tasting the air for warm heartbeats. She scented something very close by. Easily distracted, she discarded her suddenly-show-off-fighting-skills plan, which she could use later, and moved carefully in the direction of the rodent. She wasn't sure what kind of prey it was - something that only lived in dark, damp swamps, surely - but that didn't matter. She tried to work with the materials around her, using the muck to soften her footsteps. The little creature came into view, and Petal was able to get nice and close. She pounced, but this was not the grass and hard dirt she was used to. For lack of resistance, she got barely half as far as she wanted to go. The vole-like thing started to run away, but she gathered herself together and leaped again, this time judging correcting. Her teeth sunk into the rodent and she could hear the satisfying crunch of its spine snapping beneath her powerful jaws.

Solarclaw was surprised that Petal got that vole like creature. "Thats good." he felt the words suddenly slip out of his mind all of a sudden. "But that vole almost got away." The striped ginger tom snarled like his regular self again. "You need to be quicker, and more stealthy. Watch me carefully. I will only show this to you once." Solarclaw sniffed the air once and the strong smell of frog hits his nose. He crouched down low making sure there is nothing in the way. He looked to make sure there is nothing in the way. Then when he was a foxlength away he leaped. The ginger tom felt his claws sink into the frog's skin. He bit in deeply and shook the frog around to make sure it was dead. "There. Thats how you do it." Solarclaw said to Petal.

Petal had an urge to explain how she had underestimated her jump merely because she wasn't used to the substance of the ground, but she bit her tongue. She understood now, and why get Solarclaw to hate her even more? So she nodded, trying to take in every motion of her mentor's brief hunt and commit it all to memory. It looked easy enough. She took in another deep breath, and crouched as if to hunt something just near Libido and stalked forward, mimicking the lithe movements of her other mentor. But as she passed near Libido, she turned as quickly as she could as leaped at him, her claws safely in their sheaths so as to do no harm. She hoped he would realize that she was not actually attacking him; that would be bad. She prepared to leap away as soon as she made contact.

OOC: Who is Petal attacking? Libido or Solarclaw

Libido The auburn-furred warrior watched carefully as his apprentice crept near him, her gaze seemingly set on something behind him. He sensed nothing, nor smelled a nearby prey scent, so she was certainly not stalking to-be prey. Libido caught her muscles tensing before she even sprang, his watchful olive optics widened a bit as he immediately spun to face her whilst she was in mid-air. The RogueClanner ducked under her as low and fast as he could, skidding to the other side easily from the slippery earth. Libido was not one to be tricked, he was a very vigilant cat, and there was no way he was going to be misled. He turned back to her, his eyes narrowing a tiny bit, appearing very sharp despite their dull color. Your attack was much too obvious, and needed a bit more planning. Pouncing me from behind might have been a better approach. He meowed, giving her a single nod.
OOC: Hope that answers your question, Ivory. Ha ha. :3

Petal's face fell. She hadn't expected her attack to work perfectly against the full RogueClan warrior, but she had been hoping at least for some contact. Still in the air, she re-focused, remembering the time shes she had fallen from stalagmites in her mother's cave. It was a muscle memory, really - she knew exactly how to land on her paws neatly, even with almost no time to spare. She straightened herself from her forward pitch, feeling the ground beneath her front paws first and then her back paws. It was a graceful landing - at least something to be proud of in her absolute failure of an attack. "I have a lot to learn, I know," she admitted with a frown and the hint of a desperate sigh. She was trying to cover up the fact that she was completely and totally in over her head. But I can do this, she scolded herself, trying to get rid of her pessimistic thoughts.
