Solarclaw gave a yawn at Petal's poor performance. "I'm sick of this." he snarled. Solarclaw gave a small signal for Petal to attack him by waving his ginger striped tail from side to side. He prepared himself for what Petal would do next. She is probably to tired from the last battle she had with Libido. Solarclaw gave a quiet snort to himself at Petal's weakness.

Petal had to admit it: Solarclaw scared her. He was so angry and unpredicatable and just plain mean. There will come a day when he is no longer any kind of threat to me, she promised herself. She would eventually become stronger than her coldhearted mentor. Right now, she knew that she was going to have to push herself beyond any limit she used to have. She was still full of energy, but she knew that she would have to work even if she wasn't. But somehow, despite the hard work, she was thrilled.
She remembered some of the fighting tactics her mother had taught her, but she knew very little other than the obvious. She knew a surprise attack wouldn't work; that's what he was expected her to do. Attack from the front, then - but feign to the left first. Plan in mind, she stalked forward, her tail lashing for show. She put her ears back to keep them out of harm's way and was tempted to slide her already long claws from their delicate sheaths. She resisted, fairly certain that such attacking was not even acceptable in RogueClan. She flicked her eyes, pretending to see if there was a path to Solarclaw's side that she could take quickly. She took a single step with her left paw as if to swiftly cut around to his side and then instead lunged forward with a soft, padded paw. She tried to be ready for a counterattack. With one paw up I'll loose my balance quickly, she thought frantically as she went through with her swipe.

Solarclaw twitched his tail in surprise while he dodge the attack. The RogueClan tom landed behind Petal and quickly unsheathe his sharp claws to slash down the she-cat's side. He was sure that Petal would be to slow to dodge the attack. "That was good." The tom lied hoping that the silly kitten would believe it.

Petal quickly moved out of the way, but she still felt the scraping of Solarclaw's deadly talons against her skin. It wasn't enough to draw blood - but it was enough to keep the young cat on her toes. I supposed claws-out training is acceptable here, she thought, trying not to wonder how far that would go. Would Solarclaw actually injure her in a training session? Swallow the worry before it arises, Petal pointed out to herself. She followed her own orders as quickly as she could. Her mentor's compliment registered, but Petal had trouble believing that her mentor actually meant it. He wasn't one for compliments, she could tell, and her attack had been thoughtful but not a wonderful display of talent. Able to assess herself, she merely nodded in recognition of his words. Her ear twitched towards Libido, hoping that he would have something nice to add or some suggestions. Solarclaw didn't seem too good with the whole constructive criticism concept.

In a flash, to Solarclaw skidded in front of Petal and slashed his front claws down Petal's He hoped that Petal would dodge to the side like he planned, not caring if Petal became blind from his harsh attack. It would be her fault for being weak. he told himself with an evil grin.

Petal was on hyper-alert for counter-attacks, so she saw Solarclaw's talons headed for her side. She moved to the side and then backed up. I suppose claws are allowed here! she thought. She was afraid, but she pulled in the fear and tried to cut if off without any scent or sign of her sudden bought of terror. She wished that Libido could be her only mentor. He wouldn't insult her and wouldn't try to slash his claws through her fur. I wonder how far this claws-unsheathed thing would go, she mused and then cut off her train of thoughts immediately. No use scaring herself more.
ooc; i'm trying to keep her skill level to something about right, but if Solarclaw tries to seriously injure her I may advance that a little. I just want everyone to know I'm not randomly making her better - I don't want my precious kitty blinded, lol!

Solarclaw saw Petal dodge to the side then seem to be doing something the dark ginger tabby couldn't understand. That was when he saw his chance. Solarclaw quickly slashed his claws down Petal's shoulder. He didn't notice that he had 'accidentally' raked his claws softly but still hard enough to make a small wound. "You always have to be alert no matter what. You can't even let one second be wasted because in that one second someone could kill you. But why does it matter teaching all of this to a weak and spineless cat like you." He spat at Petal.
OOC: I know what you mean but I personally think rping a blind cat would be fun in a way.

Libido Libido stepped up and in between the two felines, right in front of Petal, jade eyes glittering with some unknown emotion. That’s quite enough, Solarclaw. You should respect your apprentice and stop insulting her when you should be teaching her. He spoke firmly. The young tom knew what was right from wrong; if you just push someone around the whole time they’re not going to learn a thing except for fear itself. Excuse my interruption, but I could not stand by and let you do that to her. She’s just an apprentice. Libido explained.

Petal forcefully held back her emotions from showing. It was pretty near impossible, though, not to show her relief when her second mentor stepped in to protect her. She knew that she needed to start standing up for herself, but she was nowhere near the skill level she would need to fight back against Solarclaw. She wanted to somehow thank Libido, but she was well aware that anything she said could, and would, be used against her. So she stayed warily silent, watching and keeping her claws just ever so slightly extended - she didn't want to be caught off guard.
Even as Libido took a stand against Solarclaw, Petal couldn't help wondering if the cruel tom's insults had a ring of truth. She was certainly afraid quite often and she was not exactly as strong as most of the RogueClanners. But she wasn't weak, was she? Or spineless? Her eyes flashed at the suggestion, and she felt her claws pushing dirt up. Her instinctive anger was sudden and she wasn't sure what to do about it. She wanted to pull back her lip and snarl, but something told her that that wouldn't go well. Once I'm sure Libido's on my side, I'll attack that monster I'm supposed to call "mentor," she reasoned.

"You have always been to soft on them Libido." Solarclaw argued. "I have my ways of teaching and you have yours. Also, how do you know that she is going to betray us somehow." He spat.

Libido The chocolate-colored warrior looked extremely un-swayed by his fellow Clanmate’s words, but in his mind he was a little offended. Yes, well, I respect that you have your own ways of teaching an apprentice. I just think that your ways may not be the best for our apprentice. Libido said. His olive eyes glanced slightly over to Petal, who was still taking shelter behind him, before returning his gaze back to the fierce tom in front of him. As for her betraying us... Well, I’m highly skeptical she would ever do such a foolish thing. In this Clan she’s got adequate shelter, food, and protection from any danger that threatens her. Why would she want to lose all that? He explained, his eyes sharpening dangerously. Besides, even if she does betray us, I’m sure Darkheart will give you permission to do away with her, since you’re so worried about it. He added, of course, this was just to make Solarclaw drop the subject all together. The last thing he wanted to see was an innocent youth die by the paws of some judgmental brute.
