Risingmoon's paws hit the ground with a steady rhythm of almost noiseless little thuds. Her soft pads kept the sound from echoing and alerting others to her presence. In this case, she should perhaps have tried to have a louder footstep. But she would not make allowances for the apprentice anymore. She didn't like making exceptions to her generally cold, passive demeanor, and the way the youngster had reacted to a little attempt at help - but pride was common in this Clan.
"Here we are," Risingmoon said. Now... how exactly should she proceed?

Phantomglow padded up right behind Risingmoon, just as noislessly. "What are we going to do first?" she asked inquisitivly.

"Defense is much more important for a medicine cat to know. So this is simple, but I'm going to walk around you and try to get behind you. Don't let me." Her eyes narrowed. She wouldn't start out easy. In fact, she was planning to pretend that her apprentice had full sight. She would learn to work around her disability that way. If she was forced to have the same result as a normal apprentice, she would work harder and be a better medicine cat for it. So Risingmoon didn't bother to start out slow. She made her footsteps as near to silent as she possibly could, and she had to strain her ears to hear the faintest sound. She started to the left of her apprentice, walking slowly. Her patient pace was mimicking the way Warriors circled at the beginning of a fight to test each others' dedication and readiness.

Phantomglow pricked her ears, trying to hear the faintest sound. She had her mouth open, trying to catch her mentor's scent. Aha! She heard noises on her left, turning and slashing at the spot where she thought Risingmoon was. She also, barreled into her mentor smiling when she hit her mark.

Risingmoon jumped back in surprise. Clever, but definitely not what the lesson was about. The lesson was about keeping up surveillance, watching your back - figuratively, in Phantomglow's case. Risingmoon's shoulder hurt just a tiny bit from where the apprentice had rammed into her, but the soreness stopped almost immediately. The medicine cat sighed with barely restrained impatience. This was going to be difficult. And Spiritsong would be there until one of them died.
"Alright, let me explain again. You turn in place. I try to go behind you. You turn to keep me from doing that. There is nothing else until I say there is."

"Okay." Phantomglow grumbled. She knew how to do that! She wanted to fight.

ooc; can you give me a bit more to work with in the future? even if you don't have any muse, try for three or four sentences... thanks.
Risingmoon was glad that her apprentice didn't argue. She didn't want to deal with a back-talking brat. Good - she can hold in whatever she's thinking. That's a skill. So Risingmoon tread as lightly as possible, switching directions and picking up speed. She wouldn't make her apprentice do this for a long time, but it was an immensely important skill to have. It bought time, and most warriors would play along if you kept them talking. They were stupid that way. So as a clever warrior, which Risingmoon had, for a while, been, she had used the tactic many times. It let her think of a strategy and talk some fear into her opponent. She hadn't been a good fighter particularly, but the circling had helped her. It would be even more useful for a life-long medicine cat to know.

ooc; sorry I'll try
Phantomglow pricked her ears to listen for Risingmoon's pawsteps. She could hear them easily. Her mentor was running, and Phantomglow was turning to face her every time she made a move. "Not too easy to get by me, is it?" she asked her mentor calmly, still turning as Risingmoon was walking.

Risingmoon smiled. Her apprentice was doing well enough. But Risingmoon had a trick - a trick that she had been taught by her mentor. It worked better on cats who's ability to see let them predict movement, but Risingmoon was walking in a steady pattern and even the cleverest new apprentice would assume she would continue. A medicine cat apprentice who probably didn't have all that much experience fighting would probably be fooled. Oh - but it wouldn't work here. Risingmoon remembered that the trick was really only useful when both opponents were moving in steady circles, which Phantomglow was not. So instead Risingmoon faked another step in the same direction and then spiraled to a tighter circle going the opposite way. She didn't respond to Phantomglow's little insult.

Phanomtglow heard Risingmoon change directions. She started to turn the other way. "You have to do better than that." she laughed. "Since I'm blind, my hearing is more acute. Also, I did have warrior training before I was blind."

"Also, I did have warrior training before I was blind."
The words hit Risingmoon with a little shock, waking her irritation from where it had temporarily slumbered. She had trained the stupid cat how to do some simple defense, and the apprentice hadn't even said a thing about already having warrior training? Risingmoon bit back on a snarl, but didn't didn't hold in her harsh words. "You didn't tell me that? Well what's the point of doing this then? Let's deal with the important learning, for StarClan's sake!" She took in a deep lungful of pine-scented air, tasting for herbs in the area. There wasn't much growing so late in winter, so Risingmoon decided to figure out how much her apprentice knew about medicine - so that they wouldn't have another incident with Risingmoon teaching something Phantomglow knew already.

"Thank you. I was trying to tell you that." Phantomglow said gratefully. She stopped turning and went to stand right by Rising moons.

Risingmoon assumed that the apprentice's sense of smell was wonderful - all blind cats had heightened abilities to use their other senses. But still, not having a way to see surroundings made some things difficult. Once a cat located an herb, Risingmoon would imagine that it would be difficult to pick it up in the right way. So this would be a good test. Risingmoon only smelled a single medicinal herb among the thick pines that tainted the air. There were plenty of other plants, sure, but only one was useful. "There is one plant around here that has a medicinal use," Risingmoon said. "It is called Tansy, and is used to cure coughs. It has a sharp scent that tingles in your nose a bit. Can you find it?" Her description of the plant was purposefully vague - it would be difficult for Phantomglow to locate the thing unless she already knew what the plant smelled like.
ooc; I made up the herb. If you have the warriors guide or something, feel free to correct me in OOC.

Phantomglow sniffed the air slowly moving from place to place until she smelled a plant that made her nose tingle. It smelled herbal, so she bit some off and carried it over to Risingmoon. She dropped it at her mentor's feet. "Is this it?" she asked.
ooc; there is no herb for colds. Tansy is for coughing, though, and it has a scent like that.

Risingmoon narrowed her eyes a minuscule amount, enjoying her apprentices' inability to see her expression. It was the wrong herb - a useless weed that smelled much like tansy. At least it wasn't poisonous. How could Risingmoon make sure her apprentice would remember the difference? "Feel the stalk. What texture does it have?" The useless thing had a soft, velvety feel to it, as though it had a tiny coat of fur. Tansy was firmer, with a strong, smooth stem. The apprentice couldn't see the difference between the lighter plant and the darker one, but she could at least tell that they felt different.
