Lilypaw flared her nose, breathing in and out, in and out. She took the air in and let it out in time with her quick, strong paws. She noticed each of them in turn, just for a few steps. She didn't look down at her legs, of course - her eyes were busy helping her avoid the trees that sped by, from future to past. One particularly large tree loomed in front of her for a moment, and she had only a second to alter her path: leaning to the right, her tail swishing to keep her balance, she swerved around its thick trunk of dark wood. She was getting tired; she had been running since sun-up without stopping and the bright daylight was now filtering in sideways between the leaves. Her paws hurt, but only a bit. She ran every day for about this long, sometimes longer. She had raced the perimeter of ThunderClan territory, scenting the familiar smells of her usual, ShadowClan home. She had run zig-zags across a little meadow and now she slowed to a walk in the dense woodland of ThunderClan, content to wander around at a slower pace for a little while.

A small groan escaped the young she-cat's jaws as she blinked slowly into coniousness. Thin, sharp claws dug into the thick wood under her as her blue gaze swept the leafy surounding of which she found herself. Trying to remember where exactly she was, it took a few moments before she remember. The Owl Tree as the thunderclan cats seemed to call it. She was still puzzled on why it was called that but she didn't really care. Groaning against, she steadily got to her paws, tail outstreached as she balanced on the thin branch, leaning forward as she tried to shake the stiffness of her limbs without falling off and down to the long grass below. Skypaw parted her jaws to drink in the scents around her that caught on the wind. From her place on the lower branches of the Owl tree, she could scent the distant Thunderpath as well as the scents of her home territory, but even here the lingering of the leafy Thunderclan scent was really getting to her. Looking down, she managed to spot Lilypaw within the grass and between the tree. 'Good, someone to talk to,' she thought as another yawn escaped her maw as she backed up, blue eyes looking straight ahead before she pelted up the branch, leaning down at the very end before springing into the air, using the branch as a sort of propeller as she gided through the air and landing with ease on one of the branches in the next tree. scampering down the branch to the base of the tree and looking down just as Lilypaw padded past. Goraning again Skypaw leapt from the tree and down onto the grass with a soft thump. 'Hey Lilypaw!' she called brightly, her beautiful white and tabby pelt glowing in the sunlight as she bounded up next to her clan-mate.

Perhaps, after running for many hours, most cats would be exhausted. It used to be that way - when she was younger, racing through the forest would drain her and she would end up sleeping in the nursery for just as long as she'd run. Now, after years of strengthening her legs and lengthening her endurance, Lilypaw simply never got tired. She used to be much more hyper, but she was old enough to control her neverending energy supply. So instead of bouncing up and down like an excited kit, she smiled.
"Hey, Skypaw." Lilypaw's ears, forward and attentive, showed her good mood. After all, she didn't run just for the exercise; she always felt generally happy and good after she was done. Happy, good, and usually hungry. Her stomach grumbled to remind her of the fact, but she ignored it. At least for now - she didn't want to go back to camp and she wasn't really sure if she should hunt on ThunderClan land without permission from a warrior. She had been apprenticed here, but she knew that it wasn't really home. She knew that all the warriors were anxious to get back, although she herself wasn't sure about any of it. She had friends in ThunderClan, and knew their territory better than her own. Interrupting her own thoughts, she mewed a quick "How're you?" to Skypaw.

The tabby and white she-cat gave a flick of her ear, a small flame dancing within her light blue eyes as she let out a soft purr, giving a small nod of her head. 'I'm alright, just been sleeping, what about you?' she mewed brightly, her dark tail flciking slightly from side to side as she let out a small built up sigh, limbs still stiff from her sleep. Giving her patched pelt a hard shake, Skypaw snorted slightly. Things were starting to get to her, like the constant grass that was underpaw and the horrid scent of thunderclan that, to her horror, was becoming almost as welcoming as the shadowclan scent she knew so well. Glancing around, the young apprentice sighed at the familar trees and fresh leaves that surrounded the two shadowclan cats. The trees, the grass, the sun, how was she going to cope when they got their territory back. This land just seemed so comforting, so welcoming now that it almost made her sick. 'I wonder when dewstar is going to launch an attack on those rouges that took our territory,' she murmered.

Lilypaw laughed at the difference - so large - between what Skypaw had just been doing and the activity she herself had just then finished. "I went for a run. Well - you know me." She purred a little laugh. Of course every single apprentice in ThunderClan and ShadowClan knew that Lilypaw was obsessive about her running. They didn't know of the pain that she had learned to ignore, but they still found her races pointless. Lilypaw stretched her front paws forward. If she hadn't been practicing for her whole life, she wouldn't have been able to keep from crying out. She didn't even wince, though, at the searing and stabbing that arced through her torso. She rolled her shoulders, ignoring the pain completely.
She perked up her ears to listen to Skypaw again. 'I wonder when dewstar is going to launch an attack on those rouges that took our territory,' the other apprentice mewed. It was a question that seemed to be on everyone's mind. Lilypaw understood why, but she didn't feel the same way. She had been merely five moons old when her Clan had arrived in ThunderClan, seeking refuge. She wanted to go back in theory, but she would be leaving behind friends. The older apprentices - Skypaw included, surely - had no problem with that. "We need to heal. But we shouldn't let them gather their forces too much. Surely it would be better if we attacked soon," Lilypaw speculated in a soft voice. She sat down, barely noticing the shock of pain that her every motion caused. She had gotten used to it moons ago.

Jumpingkit woke up from her nap in the sun. Looking up, she saw Skypaw and Lilypaw headed her way. She got up and stretched, glad to have company for once. Maybe they'd listen to her for once. "Hi guys," she greeted, bounding over to them. Her eyes shone with excitement. "What's up?"

"Not much. But we're talking about how nice it would be to go home - don't you think?" The other cat was an even younger cat, so Lilypaw took out the strategy part and asked a simple question. But Jumpingkit had, perhaps, been born here. That was a strange thought. It rubbed the wrong way that a ShadowClanner would start out life never having seen his or her own territory. Lilypaw looked to Skypaw and then began stretching out her tired limbs. She first put her tail in the air and dropped her upper body to the ground, feeling the stretch in her forelegs. She reversed the position, walking her front paws forwards and letting her back ones stretch. It felt good; it was her pre-run and post-run ritual.

"A couple cats told me about it," she said, swiping at a falling leaf. "How can any cat stand having so little light, though?" She didn't want them to know about her sneaking over there time to time. She stretched backwards, and then sprung forward, leaping ahead of the two cats. She shook her pelt and came alongside them again, matching stride to stride.

Confusion never stops. Closing walls and ticking clocks, Gonna, come back and take you home. I could not stop that you now know...
"I went for a run. Well - you know me." The young she-cat gave a small fliuck of her ear, a playful grin tugging on the edge of her lips as he watched her clanmate think for a moment before replying to her question. "We need to heal. But we shouldn't let them gather their forces too much. Surely it would be better if we attacked soon," Skypaw nodded her head slightly in agreement, icy blue eyes flashing thoughtfully as she sat down. Suddenly, the softer, yet still clearly heard voice echoed through the air as the tabby and white patched apprentice turned her head slightly, ears pricking up. "Hi guys, What's up?" Another kit away from the safety of the camp. How predicatble, and at these times, it wasn't safe for a young cat to wander, not even for an apprentice. That was why she was hiding in the tree for her sleep. "Not much. But we're talking about how nice it would be to go home - don't you think?" Skypaw raised an eyebrow, looking at her friend for a moment, tail wrapping lightly around her front paws. If they did go home, would they welcome to marshes like they did the grass and trees?
It was a question the apprentice found on her mind a lot in resent days. "A couple cats told me about it, How can any cat stand having so little light, though?" Skypaw sighed, a real sadness in her blue shaded eyes as he looked at the young kit, who clearly hadn't been born within their own territory. "We could, it was how we lived. ShadowClan cats are the clan of the shadows, thus our name. We are the best hunters within the darkness and of the night, in the small area where the light can not reach. We prefer the shadows, the cool claws of the darkness. That's how. It's in our blood. No shadowclan cat should have to be forced to live in such an open place." Skypaw glancing at Lilypaw with a small snort, eyes travelling up to the thin layer of leaves overhead, her mind drifting away from reality. She had half thudnerclan blood, and in truth, the rest of her blood was rogue. She didn't have even a drop of shadowclan blood in her, yet, maybe it was just because she was raised in the clan that she loved the shadows more than the light. But who knew? If they spent much longer in thunderclan, woul she never be able to grow back in favour of the night? There was only so much a cat could tell and this was not one of those things.
...Singing, come out upon my seas. Curse missed opportunities. Am I, a part of the cure. Or am I part of the disease.

Lilypaw nodded in agreement with Skypaw. On the surface, she loved the day. The brightness, the happiness. The sun warmed her fur and she relaxed. But underneath, she was tied to the night. The cool darkness drew her in, made her forget the present and remember her roots. When she went for nighttime runs, she came back feeling not just refreshed but revived, like something vital inside her had been dying and she had just healed it. She was a ShadowClanner. But how come I love the day? Because she did.
Softly, almost to herself, Lilypaw spoke with unusual deepness. "The day is beautiful, but the night... sings." She wasn't one for poetic, thought-provoking language. No, she preferred to be practical and brief, rarely able to stay still long enough to hold up a decent conversation. But this time, she could feel her curiosity overruling her itching muscles. She rolled her shoulders and loosed her muscles, trying to ignore the jolting pain through her abdomen.

Jumpingkit stumbled, as she tried to keep up. The night.........sings? she thought to herself, pondering Lilypaw's words. she'd never really been let out at night, they always said it was dangerous and she'd get lost. All she knew was sun............ her pace slowed down some, as the other cats went further ahead. Though in the day it seemed odd, maybe at night it was.......different. She could try a sleepover kind of thing next to the border, but then the whole camp would look for her and- no, it wouldn't work. She let out a small sigh, before quickly moving her legs, trying to catch back up with the others. Her legs were aching, but she wanted to keep up with them as well. She'd probably have to wait until they got their territory back..........but the question was, would it be too late? "When will we get it back?" she called out, huffing from a few mouse-lenghts behind.
