Light green and blue optics flickered open, as the creamy ginger striped she cat began to rouse herself. Glancing through an open patch in the wall of bracken, the apprentice saw small tiny flakes of snow dancing outside in the dark chilly morning. The sight seemed to wake her up. Leaping to her feet, Merrypaw shot out of the apprentice den, jumping joyfully in the clearing of the ThunderClan camp. Her jubilance was reflected in her shining optics as she danced about in the flitter of snowflakes gently falling from the dark sky. It's snowing!
She giggled as a small flake landed on her pink tounge, swallowing it with glee. It had been a long autumn and now it was almost winter. The thought of winter filled Merrypaw's heart with joy, and at the very idea, her dancing became faster and more merrier by the minute. Now a gentle white glistening carpet had fallen onto the ground, sparkling as the first glimpse of dawn appeared. Merrypaw felt so full of happiness. So full that no words could express the apprentice's joy. All she needed, was someone to share her jubilance with.
OOC: Seasle, you can bring Emberpaw into this thread if you want.

OOC - Thank you. And you do have a good muse. I, do not.
Emberpaw walked towards Merrypaw, trying her best to control her excitement about the fact there was snow, but failed. In a few seconds the silver cat was leaping into the air, trying to catch snowflakes.
While standing on her hind legs, she tripped over Merrypaw, who she hadn't noticed behind her. Emberpaw managed to flip over so that she didn't hit Merrypaw, stood up, her fur ruffled and her blue eyes looking at the ground.
"Sorry..." she muttered, embarrassed.

Merrypaw laughed good naturedly at the other cat as she tripped over her, but smiled forgivingly. It's okay. she chuckled. The she cat's blue green optics moved over the light blanket of snow, searching for something to see. A tiny scrap of brown fur caught her eyes. A mouse staggered through the snow that seemed so light to Merrypaw, but so heavy to the mouse. It grudgingly pushed along an acorn, and not so happily either. It must be going into hibernation soon. Merrypaw thought to herself, staring sadly at the mouse. It's nearly time for leaf bare to begin. Continuing to gaze pittingly at the tiny skinny scrap of fur, Merrypaw found that she did not have the heart to kill it. As she watched it push the nut over and over again, she realized that this mouse had worked so hard to get the nut, and because of that, it must have baby mice somewhere. Otherwise it wouldn't have worked with such effort and determination. I can't kill it. I have to help it. Padding softly towards the mouse, Merrypaw gently picked up the mouse in her jaws and carried it towards the tree it was making it's way towards. Then with a flick of the paw, Merrypaw pushed the nut back towards the mouse. It looked slightly surprised, but seizing the nut in it's paws, it shuffled towards a hole in the tree. Feeling satisfyingly good about herself, Merrypaw made her way back towards Emberpaw and sat down beside the silvery apprentice.
OOC: I have no idea where that came from, but whatever.

Emberpaw let out a purr of amusement.
"I've never seen anycat do that before. I would have just killed it, or given it to the kits to play with, but your way was much nicer." she meowed cheerfully.
"What's your name? I've seen you around camp before, but I'm not here a lot." Emberpaw meowed, while shaking her paw, which had snowflakes on it. Of course, as her whole pelt was spattered with snowflakes, it didn't make much difference.

Merrypaw looked slightly surprised at the other cats reaction to her caring deed, but her expression was pleased. Oh, well, I care about the creatures that live here. She meowed conversationally. I feel that they try just as hard to survive as we do, with conflicts of their own, so they should also recieve a second shot at life. We take so much for granted. Did you see how hard it was struggling to push that nut? It probably has kits of it's own. Merrypaw paused, her blue green optics searching the other apprentice. She was sure that the other she cat would laugh at her, and tease her for being so generous to be a mouse, but surprisingly, the silvery apprentice looked almost impressed.
I'm Merrypaw, but I'll be getting my warrior name at the next ceremony. I'm 10 moons, so I'm a lot older than all the other cats arround here. My mentor died, and all the other warriors had apprentices, so my training was put on hold for a while. During that time, I spent most of my, well, free time you could call it, studying the creatures and plants in the forest and learning about their purposes here. I learned to look at the world in a way that I think no other cat will. She looked at the other cat and continued, You're Emberpaw right? I've seen you arround the den a lot.

Emberpaw fixed her gaze firmly on Merrypaw, taking her in. Her blue eyes changed from dreamy and half interested to sharp, ice piecing, taking in every detail.
After a few seconds she spoke.
"You are most likely the only cat to ever care about a mouse's kits." She meowed this slowly and softly, thinking it though and seeing it from all sides before letting it go.
In a few seconds her entire demeantor changed.
"Not that it's bad, in fact, I think it's interesting." she meowed warmly.
"You will? What do you think it will be?" asked Emberpaw curiously. "Sorry." she added, "I shouldn't ask that. I think you will be a fine warrior and your mentor will be proud. And, well, you are different from most cats, so I suppose you're right about that 'seeing the world in another way'."
Emberpaw almost gave into her curiousity to look at Merrypaw again and see if she could understand her, but distracted herself with Merrypaw's last question.
"Yes, I'm Emberpaw. Want to guess why I'm named that?" she asked mischief in her eyes.
Still, she felt a small pang, knowing that Merrypaw knew more than she did about some things, things that a medicine cat would know. But she was the medicine cat's apprentice.
On an impulse Emberpaw asked, "Will you teach me? About how you see things?"

Merrypaw regarded the other apprentice closely. Yes... She meowed thoughtfully, gazing at the other cat with calm interest. You are the medicine cat apprentice. So it makes sense that you, unlike many other apprentices around here don't seem to mock me for my ability to care for other creatures in the forest than ThunderClan cats. Most of the apprentices and even a few warriors have accused me of disloyalty for not killing every piece of prey that moves across our territory. We have plenty.
I'm thinking my name will be Merryheart. she meowed conversationally. Seeing the other cats embarassment, she meowed kindly, It's okay, I don't mind you asking.
Merrypaw paused, slightly startled at the other cat's last question. Yes, I...I suppose I could try... she meowed slowly. But on once condition. Will you teach me about the different herbs and how to use them? I would like to know in case i'm ever in a situation where i'd need them.

OOC - This sounds like the start of a great friendship...I don't know who said that, but...
"I'd love to. It will help me remember everything and pay closer attention if I have to explain it to you. And it never hurts to have someone who knows about herbs around." Emberpaw meowed happily.
This is going so well. I might even have a friend!
"When do you want to start? I have a lot of free time because Cinderheart just teaches me one thing a day and makes me heal a cat if they have a small injury that I know how to heal." she meowed, her blue eyes sparkling with excitement.

OOC: Sorry I haven't posted here in a while. I didn't have the muse.
IC: Merrypaw's turquouise pools were bright with glee at the other apprentice's words. That would be great! I don't have training in the afternoons...Just in the morning! Merrypaw's voice was enthusiastic, and her eyes shone.
Yes I imgagine it would help you to learn the herbs better. I really want to learn in case I ever have to fend for myself one day.

"Alright, every afternoon we can get away." Emberpaw meowed, already planning what she would first teach Merrypaw.
"Why would you have to fend on your own? I mean, the Clan will always be here, and even if they aren't, StarClan will be." Emberpaw meowed curiously.
